Today is the last day. Tomorrow will determine the next two years of American lives. Despite any outcome that will come from tomorrow’s results, I have to say that I am extremely proud of the Obama’s. They have shown America tenacity, patience, and grace while under the fire of the media, candidates, and a small portion of closed-minded Americans. Obama has shown our children that anything in life is possible and he has shown our parents the America is slowly moving towards “true” equality.
Being black and from Chicago, I can say that I am extremely proud to be black today. My race definitely has its bad apples but we also have our golden apples. I woke up this morning inspired and ready to tackle anything that life has to throw at me because I have seen the fruits of hard work. Sometimes being young and going up in America we tend to forget that nothing in life has value unless we work for it. If everything was handed to us on a silver platter we would take everything for granted.
Even more importantly, sometimes being black we expect things to be handed to us because of our ancestors struggles. We tend to make excuses for everything and we hardly ever accept responsibility for our on faults and irresponsibility. The times of “white America” holding us back with a chain are over. While we do have more obstacles to overcome than the normal Joe, we can still do anything we want. The real question is, how bad do you want it and how many excuses are you going to make to not get it?
“Rosa sat, Martin walked, and Obama ran…” What are you going to do?

Remember in highschool how people would joke "there will never be a black president" ?
...Wow not even 10 years later and we're about to see history take its place.
